Ílhavo is famed in the region for it's beautiful women [[Citing sources citation needed]]. This is due to the oral tradition that it had been founded by Greek colonists about 400 B.C. but, this oral tradition is of uncertain validity.Vista Alegre, a renowned china and porcelain company is from Ílhavo.
