ƀ is a letter of the Latin alphabet, formed from b with the addition of a bar, which can be through either the ascender or the bowl. It is used as a phonetic symbol representing a voiced bilabial fricative (IPA equivalent: β).
It is also a letter of the alphabets of the Jarai and Katu languages of Vietnam and is used to write Proto-Germanic.
Unicode
The minuscule form has been present in Unicode since version 1, encoded at U+0180, but the majuscule form was not originally encoded. It is expected that it will be added in version 5, to be released in May 2006, as U+0243 (Ƀ).
