Encyclopedia : A : AH : AHO : 'Aho'eitu
In Tongan mythology Ahoeitu is a son of the god Tagaloa Eitumatupua and a mortal woman, Ilaheva Vaepopua. On learning the identity of his father, Ahoeitu climbed to the sky from the earth on a tree. Eitumatupua welcomed his son, but his half-brothers became jealous and so killed him and ate him. He was brought back to life, returned to earth, and became the first king of the Tui Tonga dynasty.
His name has been used over the centuries up to today for several other chiefly or royal descendants.
