10199 Chariklo is a large minor planet that orbits between Saturn and Uranus. It is the largest known member of the centaur group of minor planets. Chariklo was discovered by James V. Scotti of the Spacewatch program on February 15, 1997 and was given the temporary designation 1997 CU26. It is named after the nymph Chariclo, the wife of Chiron and the daughter of Apollo.
A photometric study in 2001 was unable to find a definite period of rotation [link]. Infrared observations of Chariklo suggest a diameter in the range of 300 kilometers, making it one of the largest known centaurs, and indicate water ice on the surface. [link].
