This article is about Hour 5 on Day 5 of the Fox Network TV series 24.
The second group of terrorists are revealed to be Central Asian nationalists who are planning to use the nerve gas canisters to attack Moscow. They move the canisters into a fake S.W.A.T van and exit through the secure perimeter of the airport. Nathanson tells Walt Cummings that Jack is a problem and must be eliminated. Cummings assures him that he has a man on the inside who will handle it.
Meanwhile, using surveillance video, CTU is able to track Ivan Erwich (the sleeper agent with the yellow tie) to the abandoned airport warehouse. The CTU forensics team determines that the area shows minute concentrations and evidence of military-grade nerve gas—however they are not able to determine how the nerve gas got there.
Diane Huxley and her son Derek are brought into CTU for debriefing. When Audrey Raines, Jack's former lover, questions Diane she reveals there was no romantic involvement between her and Jack. Meanwhile, Martha Logan realizes that without access to the authentic transcript of her phone call with former President Palmer, President Logan has become convinced that she is delusional and plans to recommit her to a psychiatric facility. She escapes through her bathroom window.
At CTU Chloe notices that Spenser Wolff has been accessing files beyond his security clearance that he is not authorized to view and reports him to Buchanan. Spenser is detained by CTU security, but not before he secretly manages to let a technician into the CTU building. During Spenser's interrogation Edgar Stiles manages to determine that the last thing Spenser was looking at was surveillance video of Jack in CTU. Meanwhile, the technician enters the CTU medical area, kills a CTU physician and attacks Jack at Tony Almeida's bed, but is ultimately killed by Jack. When Spenser realizes that the technician he let into the building was, in fact, a professional assassin, he reveals that he up to now he has believed that he was part of an internal affairs investigation into CTU authorized by White House and that he was placed there by Walt Cummings. Wolff's admission is compelling, but leaves CTU without clear evidence of Cummings' culpability. Jack, however, decides to go after Cummings.
