24th Caprice

No. 24 in A Minor is the final caprice of Niccolò Paganini's 24 Caprices, and a famous work for solo violin. The work, in the key of A minor, consists of a theme, 11 variations, and a finale.
It is widely considered one of the most difficult pieces written for the solo violin. It uses many highly advanced techniques such as fingered parallel octaves, rapid shifting, extremely fast scales and arpeggios, left hand pizzicato, high positions, and quick string crossing. As a result, many violinists after studying for many years still lack the virtuosity required for such a demanding piece.
Many other prominent composers, including Franz Liszt as No. 6 in his Paganini Variations, Johannes Brahms in his Paganini Books, Sergei Rachmaninoff in his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Witold Lutosławski in his Paganini Variations for Two Pianos, Fazil Say in his Paganini Variations for Piano Solo, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, have used Paganini's theme for the basis of their own sets of virtuoso variations. It is a popular tune that many people have heard before, although most can't remember from where.
