269 (West Riding ) Battery Royal Artillery (Volunteers ) "The Yorkshire Gunner s" are a Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) battery of 101 (Northumbrian) Regiment RA(V) and are based at Old Carlton Barracks in Leeds , Yorkshire.
269 Battery successfully converted from being an airmobile field artillery battery, equipped with the 105mm L118 Light Gun to the Rapier surface-to-air missile system in 1999, to provide limited area air defence as part of 106 (Yeomanry) Regiment RA(V) . In 2004 the Yorkshire Gunners converted again from Rapier Field Standard B2 to Rapier Field Standard C (FSC). Since 2004 soldiers from 269 Battery have mobilised as part of the ongoing Op TELIC in Iraq .
