Its reciprocal has a period of 69, making it the second prime number after 53 with a period of reciprocal one quarter of the maximum.277 is the smaller of the two prime factors of the number 9000007 (read nine million and seven), which is significant as the first composite number in the sequence 97, 907, 9007, 90007, 900007, 9000007, 90000007 and so on (the next prime after 900007 has fourteen zeroes).
Since no number added to the sum of its digits generates 277, it is a self number. The next prime self number is not reached until 367.
