- Scordisci Celts founded modern city called Singidon, Roman Singidunum, later Serbian Belgrade
- Gauls led by Brennus try to sack Delphi but are defeated by combined Greek forces. They retreat to the North, cross the Bosporus, and finally settle in the region of Asia Minor that is later named Galatia.
- Phocians are readmitted into the Great Amphictyonic League after they have joined the defense of Delphi against the Gauls
- Battle of Asculum: Romans under the consuls Caius Fabricius and Quintus Aemilius, was defeated by Pyrrhus but retreated in good order, causaulties on both sides were about equal, but Pyrrhus himself was badly wounded and lost most of his Greek contingent.
