30 Rock is a sitcom that will debut on NBC during the 2006-2007 television season. It will appear on Wednesdays, between 20 Good Years and The Biggest Loserhttp://www.nbc.com/NBC_First_Look/. In Canada, CTV will carry the show on Saturdayshttp://www.ctvmedia.ca/ctv/releases/release.asp?id=8707&yyyy=2006.
The show is created by Saturday Night Live performer Tina Fey, who will also star. Other cast members include Alec Baldwin, Judah Friedlander, SNL alumni Rachel Dratch and Tracy Morgan, and Chicago improv veterans Scott Adsit and Jack McBrayer.
Fey will portray Liz Lemon, the head writer of a fictional comedy-variety show. Although the featured sketch comedy show will only appear briefly on the sitcom, sketches will appear in their entirety on NBC's broadband Web site, DotComedy.com.http://www.thefutoncritic.com/pr.aspx?id=20060515nbc02
The show's title comes from the nickname of 30 Rockefeller Center, also known as the GE Building. It is used as the headquarters of NBC's New York City studios, including Studio 8H, the home of SNL.
30 Rock is also one of two shows on the NBC lineup that revolves around the off-camera happenings on a sketch comedy series, the other being Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
