In mathematics
It is a prime number, the fifth lucky prime, the first irregular prime, the third unique prime as well as the third cuban prime of the form [p = (x^3 - y^3) / (x - y), x = y + 1]. It is a factor of all 3-digit base 10 repdigits, such as 111. 37 is the smallest prime that is not also a supersingular prime. It is a centered hexagonal number and a star number.Every positive integer is the sum of at most 37 fifth powers (see Waring's problem).
37 appears in the Padovan sequence, preceded by the terms 16, 21, 28 (it is the sum of the first two of these).

- The Saros number of the solar eclipse series which began on -1794 June 25 and ended on -496 August 12. The duration of Saros series 37 was 1298.1 years, and it contained 73 solar eclipses.

In pop culture
In the movie Clerks., Dante's girlfriend Veronica fellated 37 men in her lifetime, counting Dante. On Seinfeld, Jerry and Elaine had sex 37 times (by Elaine's count) prior to the first episode.
Although 47 occurs more frequently in Star Trek as a whole, the number 37 appears quite often on . To give just a couple of examples:
- In the episode Juggernaut, Tuvok counts 37 escape pods from the Malon freighter.
- In Imperfection, Tuvok reports he has "isolated a section containing the bodies of approximately 37 drones."
- In Alice, Paris and Kim had planned to go to the holodeck to play Captain Proton, Chapter 37, "The Web of Pain."
The I.Q. to be envious of in the Devo song "37".
Number 37 is Paul Newman's prisoner number in the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke.

- On The Price is Right, Bob Barker jokes that once the range finder is stopped on Range Game, it can't be started again for 37 hours
- In the U.S., UHF Channel 37 (608 to 614 mHz) is the only allocated TV channel that has never been assigned to a station. (The frequency range is kept quiet so as to not interfere with radio astronomy devices there.)
