4NT

4NT is a command line interpreter by JP Software, designed as a substitute for the default command interpreter cmd.exe in Microsoft's Windows NT line of operating systems. 4NT is based on the earlier 4DOS command shell for DOS, and in fact older versions were named 4DOS for the Windows NT Operating System.

4NT features a number of enhancements when compared to cmd.exe:

- Extended functionality of existing commands
- Extended batch file processing facilities
- Support for command aliases
- Enhanced wildcards and the ability to filter by file sizes, date and time stamps, etcetera
- Context-specific online help
- Colored directory listings
- More internal variables
- Variable functions
- An interactive debugger for batch files, including a built-in syntax-coloring editor
- Configuration stored in an .INI file
- Support for the Windows clipboard
- Support for file operations over several internet protocols: FTP, TFTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS
- Support for Unicode, in filenames and elsewhere
