500mg is the psychedelic rock/fuzz rock/acid rock solo-project of Michael Gibbons of the band Bardo Pond. Only one LP to his name, Vertical Approach, 500mg quickly found an affluential title in being one of the better-known releases from the musical New Weird America movement. The album, as well as the genre, features a meditation-like, lonesome drone of manipulated vocals, electronics, and guitar. 500mg's work is completely the product of Michael Gibbons, besides the first track of his first album, which included his brother, John.
