50 Ways to Kill Me
Encyclopedia : 5 : 50 : 50W : 50 Ways to Kill Me
New York based project 50 Ways To Kill Me was started by Jay Haley in late 1999 early 2000 in which he made a couple songs about funny ways to kill himself.
Even though the songs were created on the computer, he wanted to be able to play live, so the project took various line-up experiments being made but he shortly found that the best way to perform was by himself with just a cd-player, and a microphone. Over the years there have been various line-up changes and guest appearances, but Jay Haley controls all the music and live show. The live show consists of playing shows naked and doing such extreme stuff as fornicate with a blow up doll, light firecrackers and smoke bombs, slamming the microphone into his head leaving bruises and marks, eating feces, masturbating, burning bibles, slamming his penis in big text books or bibles, and tons of other silly acts. He just wants to do whatever it takes to please the fans and make them have a good time at a concert. 50 Ways To Kill Me's musical influences are so many styles, everything from pop punk to noise music to grindcore. It has been described as so many genres but Jay himself prefers to call it media-core. Even other similar media-core projects have started in the local area under 50 Ways To Kill Me influence, ALMOST creating its own scene.
