- Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, consul and leader of the democratic party, was defeated, by Q. Lutatius Catulus outside Rome, the remnants of the rebel was wiped out by Cnaeus Pompeius in Etruria.
- Pompey marches to Spain to join with Quintus Metellus Pius to suppress the revolt of Quintus Sertorius, but was generally unsuccessful.
