A. L. Kennedy (full name Alison Louise Kennedy, born October 22, 1965 in Dundee) is a Scottish writer of novels, short stories and non-fiction. She is known for a characteristically dark tone, a blending of realism and fantasy, and for her serious approach to her work. Alison Kennedy lives in Glasgow with several cats, and occasionally contributes a column to The Guardian. A. L. Kennedy is currently a part-time Lecturer in Creative Writing at St Andrews University.
