The A1 Greek Basketball League is the highest professional basketball competition among clubs in Greece. It was founded in 1928, has been celebrated yearly except in thirteen occasions for different reasons. Despite the championship being contested 65 times, only nine teams have won so far. The dominating tram of the League has been Panathinaikos Athens, having earned the championship 25 times.
It is organized by the Greek Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA, in English, "Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association"), and the official name of the competition is Protathlima Basket OPAP (in English, "Basket Championship OPAP", after the main sponsor OPAP. The first division championship is it called "A1", and 14 teams contest for it. The second level championship is it called "A2".
