Eiichiro Sakata is commonly known as the photographer who takes each cover photos for Weekly AERA, but Sakata do not necessarily take the cover photos ―in case of which the cover person of some issue is a photographer, the same cover photo is taken by himself.―

Its title AERA is delivered from the Latin word that means "era" in English, and the abbreviation of "Asahi shimbun Extra Research and Analysis."
