AMEX Bank of Canada is a unit of AMEX Canada and owned by American Express of the United States.
AMEX Bank of Canada provides a few account products and mainly services credit card services under the American Express card
American Express Canada was founded in 1853 in Toronto, it also established an office in Hamilton.
The company began operations as a bank on July 1, 1990 following an order-in-council made by the Brian Mulroney government on Nov. 21, 1988. This decision was not without controversy as federal banking policy at the time would not ordinarily have permitted American Express to operate as a bank.
Its current headquarters is in Markham, Ontario with 3,000 employees.
