A Man Apart is a 2003 action film starring Vin Diesel and directed by F. Gary Gray.
Plot
Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) and Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate), thugs-turned-cops, are members of the DEA working on the California/Mexico border. After busting a big player named "Memo" Lucero (Geno Silva), the mysterious Diablo steps into his place and organizes the assassination of Vetter's wife, Stacy (Jacqueline Obradors).
Looking for revenge, Vetter starts to act outside the law to punish his wife's murderers. To accomplish that, he asks Memo, who's now in prison, for help finding Diablo. With Hicks' help, he hunts every drug player from the bottom to the top of the cartel's hierarchy.
Trivia
- A lawsuit was filed by Blizzard Entertainment, a computer game company, creator of the Diablo computer game series, arguing they had trademarked the title Diablo and intended to make a movie based on their game. Initially the ruling was favorable to Blizzard, but this was later overturned.
- In Brazil, as well as Greece, the movie was advertised as O Vingador and O Timoros respectively, which is the same name by which the Marvel Comics' "The Punisher" character is published in those countries.
