An accumulator is a different thing in various fields:
- Accumulator (computing), in a CPU, is a processor register in which intermediate results are stored.
- Accumulator (energy), an apparatus by means of which energy or power can be stored.
- Hydraulic accumulator, an energy storage device using a pressure storage reservoir in which a non-compressible hydraulic fluid is held under pressure by an external source.
- Accumulator (gambling), a type of bet.
- Accumulator (air conditioning), a refrigerant storage and dehydration element of an air conditioning system.
- In high speed production, an accumulator is a buffer that stores products between machines in the event of, or to prevent, downtime.
- In electrical engineering, accumulator is a deprecated term synonymous with capacitor ([Akkumulator] or akku is the German term for rechargeable battery)
