Adam Savage (born july 15, 1967 in New York City, and raised in Westchester County, NY) is an American television co-host on the program MythBusters on the Discovery Channel. Before becoming a TV host, he spent 10 years as an artisan in special effects, specifically modelmaking for companies such as Industrial Light and Magic, Warner Bros. and Disney. He worked on such films as Star Wars Episodes I and II, The Matrix sequels, Bicentennial Man, A.I., Space Cowboys, and others.
-->The son of a painter/animator/director, he was a child actor, giving voice to animated characters that his father produced for Sesame Street. He played Mr. Whipple's stockboy "Jimmy" in a Charmin commercial, and 2nd lead in Billy Joel's music video "You're Only Human."
He has also been an animator, graphic designer, carpenter, set designer, toy designer, and has many sculptures on display in museums across the country.
On MythBusters, Savage is famous for silly and juvenile behavior and sometimes doing ill-advised things for a laugh. His best known show quote appears in the beginning of most of the episodes: "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" (originally from the movie The Dungeonmaster) and popularized during the show's 10th regular episode, where he and fellow Mythbuster Jamie Hyneman tested the "rip a car off its rear axle" myth as seen in the movie American Graffiti. He used the quote after being challenged about earlier predictions of the likelihood of the myth's validity. In a later episode, he wears a T-shirt that contains the aformentioned quote.
He currently lives in San Francisco and is the father of twin sons.
