- This article is about the former British Colony of Aden, a former territory in what is now Yemen. For the port city, see Aden, and for other uses, see Aden (disambiguation).
On 18 January 1963, it became the State of Aden (Arabic: / Wilāyat ʿAdan) in the new Federation of South Arabia and on 30 November 1967 became part of the People's Republic of South Yemen. The hinterland of the Aden Colony was known as the Aden Protectorate.
