Advanced Info Service PCL (AIS; also Advance Info Service) is Thailand's largest GSM mobile phone operator with 15.815 million customers as of June 2005. Founded in March 1990 and acquiring Shinawatra Paging in June 1992, the highly profitable company is controlled by the Shin Corporation, headed by Temasek Holdings. Singapore Telecommunications holds a 21.5% stake in the company.
