Advanced Soaring Concepts Spirit
Encyclopedia : A : AD : ADV : Advanced Soaring Concepts Spirit
The Advanced Soaring Concepts Spirit is a single-seat standard class sailplane that is produced in kit form for home-building.
In 1996 concerns were raised about the aircraft's wing, after the wings of two examples failed under load testing at far lower stresses than the aircraft was designed for. This prompted a redesign of the wing root.
There have been accusations in the soaring community that the Spirit and its derivative, the Falcon were largely reverse engineered from the Schempp-Hirth Ventus.
