Aerdenhout is a small town in the municipality of Bloemendaal. Comfortably seated in the dunes between Haarlem and the Netherlands's most popular beach town Zandvoort, it ranks as one of the (or the) wealthiest towns in The Netherlands.

Functioning mostly as a suburb for wealthy commuters to Haarlem, Amsterdam and other nearby cities, its station is a stop on the popular railway line between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Residents of the town do their shopping in nearby Heemstede, as Aerdenhout itself has virtually no stores.

While the general Bloemendaal area is very wealthy, it is not known for its celebrities. Famous people who live or lived in Aerdenhout include:

Wubbo Ockels - First Dutchman in space
Roel Pieper - Businessman and ex-vice president of the Phillips Corp
Albert Heijn - Founder's son and previous owner of Ahold, one of the largest corporations in the world
Dirk van den Broek - Businessman and founder of the Samenwerkende Dirk van den Broek Bedrijven.
