Afro-Venezuelan

Afro-Venezuelans are the descendants of Africans who were originally transported to the Americas as slaves; they make up 10% of the population of Venezuela.
Many of these Venezuelans live in small slum-like towns. Many have kept their traditions and culture alive, especially through music.

- Salsa singer Oscar D'Leon.
- President of Venezuela Hugo Chávez, who is rumored to be half zambo (Half amerindian, half black) & half mestizo (Half white, half amerindian).
- American singer Mariah Carey's father was Afro-Venezuelan, and her grandfather was full blood Venezuelan
