After the Funeral (published in 1953), also known as Funerals are Fatal, is a whodunit mystery novel by Agatha Christie, featuring her detective Hercule Poirot.
Plot summary
Richard Abernathie died a natural death - or so his family believes. But right after his funeral, his sister Cora remarks "It was hushed up very nicely ... but he was murdered, wasn't he?" At the time no one takes her seriously. But the next day, Cora is found brutally murdered with a hatchet, and the family lawyer turns to Hercule Poirot for help.
Film, TV or theatrical adaptations
Adapted by MGM in 1963, the film was titled Murder at the Gallop and replaced Poirot with the character of Miss Marple (played by Margaret Rutherford).ITV adapted the novel in 2005 with David Suchet as Poirot.
