Song Information
Lyrically based on a lost love, Jackson's composition was included as the ending song to Jackson's box-office movie debut in Poetic Justice. While not included in the soundtrack, the song became an Academy Award nominated song for Best Original Song. Jackson performed the song live at the ceremony. The song became her seventh number one on Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The janet. track "Funky Big Band" appears on the single as a b-side.
Music Video
The video for the song was directed by Jackson's ex-husband Rene Elizondo Jr. It features actor Gary Dourdan as Jackson's lost love.
