Agnus

Agnus is the name of a range of custom chips that were featured in the Amiga home computer. The Agnus, Denise and Paula chips collectively formed the OCS/ECS chipsets.

Agnus was responsible for

Providing DMA for sound and graphics
Handling memory (Memory that can be accessed by the processor and the chipsets)
Video timing
The logic for the copper and blitter coprocessors.

Agnus was replaced by Alice in the A4000 and A1200 when the AGA chipset was introduced.
