Ahhotep

Encyclopedia : A : AH : AHH : Ahhotep

Ahhotep II (Alternatively spelled Ahhotpe), of dynasty XVII, was the daughter of Queen Tetisheri (Teti the Small), & was probably the sister/wife of the pharoah Seqenenre Tao II.

It is probable that she was the mother of Ahmose & Kamose. By some historians, she is considered the founder of the eighteenth dynasty, though this is debatable. From evidence such as golden military flies necklace, and ceremonial dagger, it appears that she played an important role in politics during the unsettled second intermediate period, during the Hyksos settlement of Lower Egypt, possibly following the death of her husband.
