Aira (姶良郡; -gun) is a district located in Kagoshima, Japan.
As of the Kirishima merger but with 2003 population data, the district has an estimated population of 86,924 and a density of 231 persons per km². The total area is 375.64 km².
Towns and villages
Mergers
- On March 22, 2005 the towns of Kurino and Yoshimatsu merged forming the town of Yusui.
- On November 7, 2005, the city of Kirishima was formed from the merger of the city of Kokubu with the towns of Fukuyama, Hayato, Kirishima, Makizono, Mizobe, and Yokogawa.
