Akhilesh Prasad Singh is a member of the Parliament, and he represents Motihari constituency (located in the Indian state of Bihar) in the 14th Lok Sabha). Currently (2006), he is a state minister in the Cabinet of India, and holds the charge of Agriculture, Food & Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution. He belongs to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
According to media reports [link], his ministry has initiated a number of measures to monitor the availability of food grains in different parts of the country. With the active participation of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) the Government has taken steps to” enable the farmers in getting latest skill about marketing their produce through procurement centers being operated by the FCI”.
