Akiyoshi Hongo is credited on all relevant media as the creator of the original concept and character designs for the anime and video game franchise, Digimon. However, nothing is known about Hongo as an individual, which has led to some speculation by fans that the name may be a pseudonym for another person, or even group of people - one of which may quite possibly be Bandai's chief Tamagotchi officer, Takeichi Hongo.
