Akizuki clan

The Akizuki clan was a japanese clan that was established at Chikuzen Province around 1190 by Minamoto no Yoritomo. Following the Nambokucho Period the Akizuki served under the Souther Court. Following the Sengoku Period of the 16th century the Akizuki contested the advance of the Otomo. Following Toyotomi Hideyoshi's 1587 invasion of Kyushu (in which the Akizuki were opposed to Hideyoshi), they were confirmed of their fief. the Akizuki were then moved to Hyuga in 1590 and remained there into the Edo Period of the 18th century.
