Akoris (Ancient Egyptian: Dehenetis) is the Greek name for the modern Egyptian area of Tihna el Jebel, located roughly midway between Medinet el-Faiyum and Asyut, about 10km north of Al Minya.
It became an important town under the name it currently bears during the Greek and Roman periods. Akoris is home to several archaeological sites, including a number of rock-cut tombs from the Old Kingdom period, several temples from early Egyptian history, and a necropolis from the Greek and Roman periods.
The monuments are scattered for about 3km along the desert.
