Akron Quakers

The Akron Quakers are a franchise based in Akron, Ohio in the International Basketball League (2005-). The Quakers are slated to begin play in the 2007 season. The team are descendants of the Akron Lightning, who played in the 2005 season. Ryan Isley will be serving as GM and President of Basketball Operations for the team. The Quakers will be working in a business partnership with the Cuyahoga Falls Cougars. The Cougars' owner, Marc Cook is a minority owner of the Quakers as well.
According to an official team press release, the team was named in honor of both the Quaker Oats Company, and the area's Quaker history.
The Quakers are negotiating to play their home games at North High School.
