History
It all started way back in 1976 when the current Secretary General of the Mission, M Nurul Islam set up the Khalatpur Junior High Madrasa when he was still studying in his 10th Std. In May 1984, he started the Institute of Islamic Culture and in January 1986, set up a hostel with 11 students in Madrasa building itself with the collection of one fist of rice from every home in his village Khalatpur. In January 1987, it was renamed as Al-Ameen Mission. Al-Ameen Mission was awarded "The Telegraph School Award for Excellence" which it shared with the South Point High School in 2002.Philosophy
As history tells, this mission is a brain child of M Nurul Islam. His idea was to enlighten the bengali young muslims, who were gradually lagging behind and poor but meritorious, with good education. Today it has outgrown that basic philosophy. Al-Ameen Mission is no more a mere educational institution, it's a cultural and social welfare organisation also in true sense, helping not only muslim students but also other communities' students who are needy. It also helps unemployed people by way of getting loan and etc.Funding
Mission is mostly run from the zakat fund. Muslims throughout the country contribute their zakat to the Mission, which takes care of 25% seats reserved for poor, destitute and orphans. Apart from this there are many industrialists, individuals who have come forward whole-heartedly to help Al-Ameen Mission. It has also recieved funding from many other sources like Maulana Azad Education Foundation, The West Bengal Wakf Board and etc.Campus
Having started with no own campus, now Boys campus at Khalatpur comprises about 45 bighas of land amidst paddy fields. It consists of a five-storied boys hostel building, a three-storied school building and a three-storied administrative building with guest house and health centre. It now has about 1115 students, with residential staff of 200 and part-time and non-residential staff of 50.Branches
