Al-Bassa

Al-Bassa', also known as Bissah (Caananite), Bezeth (Roman), and Ayn al-Bassa (Crusader), is a formerly Palestinian village in the District of Acre.

Geography

Al-Bassa was located in the District of Acre, 19km north of Akko (Acre).

History

Al-Bassa was captured by Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, in Operation Ben-Ami, on May 14, 1948. The remaining residents were expelled May 27, 1949, leaving behind a few houses, a church, and a shrine.
