Al-Islam.org is a project of the Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project (DILP). It is a prominent site for Shia Islam on the Internet.

The Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project

The Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project (DILP) team is a registered, non-profit, tax-exempt Internet-based group of volunteers operating throughout the world. Their objectives are to digitize and present quality resources, related to the history, law, practice, and society of the Islamic religion and the Muslim peoples, with particular emphasis on Twelver Shia Islamic school of thought.

The DILP was established in January of 1996, and is currently comprised of members and volunteers from various countries worldwide.

Al-Islam.org is also one of the most well-known Islamic websites. The site is has a multilingual user-friendly interface, which includes a full alphabetical & topical index, with the ability to filter resources by language & media type.

Textual Resources Online

The DILP is continuing to expand the textual portion of its library, which consists of the full text translation of most significant Islamic texts along with almost 400 other full-length texts and over 300 short articles from a variety of contemporary and classical sources. A search engine allows readers to search for keywords in all the online texts.

While the majority of the texts currently available in the library are English translations, the DILP has taken initiative to provide texts in other languages like Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, Gujarati and Urdu.

Multimedia Gallery

The multimedia portion of Al-Islam.org is known as the "[Islamic Gallery]". Currently available in audio and/or video format are the recordings of lectures, supplications, eulogies/elegies, and recitation of the Qur’an. The audio and video collection is one of the largest such collections of Islamic multimedia available on Internet. The Gallery also contains a number of photo galleries. These galleries are usually centered on a given topic or genre. Available are galleries of Islamic calligraphy, collections focused on places visited for ziyarat, and more.
