Content[ It begins by specificying which animals are forbidden and which are permissible to consume.
[ Specifies that food of Christians and Jews is lawful (Halal) for Muslims. As most Christians are not required to keep the Old Testament's dietary laws, this Sura seems to indicate that pork and ham prepared by Christians is halal for Muslim consumption[[Citing sources citation needed]]. The verse was revealed after the Battle of Khaybar [[Citing sources citation needed]].[ Verse 36 is a reference to the day of judgement, one of three principle beliefs of Islam, and a central concept in Islamic eschatology:
