This article is about a politician. See Alexandra Scott for the founder of Alex's Lemonade Stand.
William Alexander Scott (born 1940) is the premier of Bermuda and the leader of the Progressive Labour Party since 29 July 2003. He was appointed premier when the PLP was re-elected in parliamentary elections and the party leader at that time, Jennifer Meredith Smith, was overthrown hours after the election results were certified when a split between the elected members of the party surfaced. With the two sides split 13 members each, Smith agreed to step aside with Scott as the compromise choice.

Scott had previously served as Minister of Works and Engineering where he oversaw the construction of the new Berkeley Institute campus. The project was mired in disputes after significant cost overruns, contracting irregularities and work delays.

The hallmarks of his premiership were the promotion of a Social Agenda and the launch of an unpopular drive for Independence from the UK. Supporters believed he wished to spread Bermuda's wealth amongst the population, while critics charged that the Scott administration was racially divisive and lacked accountability. Scott is married to the former head of the Bermuda Government's financial assistance department and has two adult childen.
