History
1963: the state announced plans for the Owen Drive Freeway to link Fort Bragg with the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center area
Construction of the 8.2-mile freeway began May 9, 1974.
The All American Freeway was officially completed September 15, 1978.
1993: the construction of the Cliffdale Rd. exits begin, and is opened in 2003.
Future
A future exit with Interstate 295 will be located between Santa Fe Drive and Gruber Road.
Facts
The All American Freeway was built to connect Cape Fear Hospital and the Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force Base.
It was built to relieve traffic through the Morganton Road area of Fayetteville.
The road was built in conjunction with the Cross Creek Mall shopping center.
The freeway is not signed as a NC state highway; it is a State Road named SR 1007.
