All for You (album)

Encyclopedia : A : AL : ALL : All for You (album)

All for You is the seventh studio album released by pop/R&B singer Janet Jackson on April 24, 2001 on Virgin Records.

Unlike The Velvet Rope, which featured Janet tackling darker issues like bondage and domestic violence, All for You showcased a fluffier pop sound. The album's title track became Jackson's biggest hit in years, hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and remaining there for seven weeks.

Though reviews were greatly mixed, with many feeling that it was a disappointing followup to The Velvet Rope, All for You nonetheless debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and went on to sell over three million copies in America. This album gave Janet Jackson her best debut sales week ever with 605,128 copies. The album was also number one during the 4th week of All for You the single being on top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The album's second single, "Someone To Call My Lover", was also a success, peaking in the top five. The third single, "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" (which featured Carly Simon and repurposed her 1972 song "You're So Vain") didn't meet the same success as the album's previous singles; it nonetheless peaked in the Top 40.
