Alpine A310

Encyclopedia : A : AL : ALP : Alpine A310

The Alpine A310 was a sports car built by French manufacturer Alpine, from 1971 to 1984.

The A310 had a rear-mounted engine and was initially powered by a four cylinder 1.6 L Renault engine, with maximum power reaching 127 PS DIN (93.5 kW/125 hp), thanks to the use of two double-barrel carburettors. In 1976 the A310 was restyled by Robert Opron and fitted with the more powerful and newly-developed V6 PRV engine. The 2.7 L motor was modified by Alpine, fitted with a double-barrel carburettor that pushed power to 150 PS DIN (110 kW/148 hp). The road car still used a four-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to its low weight of 980 kg (2160 lb), the A-310 V6 could achieve 210 km/h (130 mph).

The A310 had some success in French motorsports as a Group 4 car.

A bright blue version of the A310 with modified headlights was featured in the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion; it is the car driven by Misato Katsuragi.
