The Alpine World Ski Championships 2007 are to be held in Åre, Sweden, between 3 February and 18 February 2007. The FIS awarded the Alpine World Skiing Championships in 2002. Other candidates were Val d'Isère and Lillehammer. The 1954 World Championships had been held in Åre as well.

Åre Skiresort has 40 lifts (capacity for 47 390 persons/hour) and 102 slopes. Åre normaly has 350 000 visitors/year. Åre has 50 restaurants and 15 bars and nightclubs. Åre is situated in Jämtland, 98 km from the city of Östersund.

Car

Åre is situated at the Euro Road E14, between Östersund and Trondheim, it's about 7 hours dirve from Stockholm (610 km).

Åre has a train station.

Nearest airport is Östersund-Frösön Airport (96 km) or Trondheim Airport (170 km). Tickets and timetables avilble at[Scandinavian Airlines], [flyNordic] and [FlyMe]) From Östersund Airport you can prebook airport coaches to Åre, note that that have to be done before your flight.
