Japanese Mythology
Amenonuhoko (JPN. 天沼矛 Lit. Heavenly Spear or Heavenly Jewelled Spear) is the name given to the spear in Shintō religion used to raise the land-mass of onogoro. According to the Kojiki, the Spear was used by Izanami and Izanagi, whom dipped it into the sea from the bridge between heaven and earth and from the droplets that fell from the spear, the landmass or island of onogoro was formed, on which Izanagi and Izanagi resided.

The film The Last Samurai incorrectly identifies that it was a Sword which was used to form the island of onogoro. However, it is more likely that the film used the word sword as a means of linkage with the storyline itself.
