And No One Else Wanted to Play
Encyclopedia : A : AN : AND : And No One Else Wanted to Play
...And No One Else Wanted To Play was the first full-length album from Edmonton, Alberta's punk band SNFU. It was released on BYO Records in 1984. The album was engineered by David Ferguson, produced by BYO and SNFU and recorded at Track Record, Hollywood, California
The first small release of the 12" LP featured a copyright image by Diane Arbus entitled [Belke explains the copyright issue on Punk History Canada] Child with a toy hand grenade in Central Park, NYC. (1962).
On a later release, the band release another version of the cover in an effort to avoid any potential lawsuit, having an artist draw the boy with the hand grenade in place of the photo. This effort was much too close to the original for comfort, and at least two other versions were created; one featuring a family looking at their rifles, and a final version with a Christmas Massacre. The latest version (shown above) with the Christmas scene still features the boy from the original, but he has been altered rather distinctly.
