Andale Mono—formerly Monotype.com—is a monospace font designed by [Steve Matteson]. The Andale design was originally created by Monotype. Andale Mono was first distributed as an Internet Explorer 4.0 add-on. This font does not come preinstalled on modern versions of Microsoft Windows.
This font is preferred by some programmers for use in text editors and IDEs since it is fairly legible and contrasts easily confused characters.
