Anil Kapoor (born 24 December, 1959) is an Indian movie actor.
Biography
Anil has many film industry connections. His father, Surinder Kapoor, is a film producer. His brother, Boney Kapoor, is a producer, younger brother Sanjay Kapoor is also a well known Bollywood actor though not as celebrated as Anil Kapoor. This branch of the Kapoors is only distantly related to the other Kapoor Bollywood film clan. He is the brother-in-law of the actress Sridevi. His sister Reena is married to Sandeep Marwah of the famous Marwah Films & Video Studios in Noida Film City.Film Career
Anil Kapoor appeared in a few minor roles since 1979 and then starred in the 1983 film Woh Saat Din (Those seven days). It was followed by successful films like Mashaal,Meri Jung and Karma. In 1987, he arguably gave his single biggest solo hit at that point of time, with Mr. India, which actually had him disappear for much part of the film. After this mega-success, came "Tezaab" in 1988, which shot him to a superstar status and won him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. Incidently, this film also gave a kick start to careers of director N.Chandra (whose later movies included Narsimha, Shiva and Style), Bollywood queen Madhuri Dixit, as well as choreographer Saroj Khan. Following year, he reeled off two more hits in "Ram Lakhan" and Parinda. 1991 saw him play a role of a middle-aged man to perfection in "Lamhe". In 1992 Anil starred with Madhuri Dixit once again in Beta, which won him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award award. In 1994, he starred opposite Manisha Koirala in [[1942: A Love Story]].After a 3 year lull, Anil bounced back with a hat-trick of hits Judaai, Deewana Mastana and Virasat. 1999 saw him give triple hits once again, with Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rahte Hain, Biwi No.1 and Taal. His role of an Army Officer in Pukar, saw him win his first National Award for Best Actor. After a period of little success, 2004 saw Anil give a long-awaited hit in "Musafir", where he wore a complete new get-up. He followed this with two more in 2005 -Chocolate and No Entry. Only No Entry was a hit at the box office.
He has often been associated with 3 successful pairings Jackie Shroff, Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit over the 1980s and 1990s.
His recent films include the 2005 My Wife's Murder, Chocolate and No Entry.
